The China Gold Congress and Expo in Shanghai

Ava General Manager – APAC & Middle East, Will Baines recently attended the China Gold Congress and Expo in Shanghai and shares his insights below:

"Organised by the World Gold Council and China Gold Association, it was a well-attended event, with speakers and delegates from the LBMA, Singapore Bullion Market Association and DMCC, as well as several of the Chinese and international importing banks, producers and refiners in attendance.

It not only showcased China’s global importance as a producer, refiner and consumer of gold, but also as a key manufacturer of machinery, equipment and materials within the industry’s mining and processing sectors.

Driven by the belt and road initiative, the major Chinese producers are continuing to invest in both domestic and overseas mines, utilising both international and domestic refiners in order to bring the produced gold to market. This creates exciting new logistics opportunities globally and within the region."
